Michael Barkusky, CGA, MBA
After completing his BA at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Michael moved to Vancouver in 1980 and completed his MBA at UBC in 1982. He received his designation as a CGA in 1985. In 1993, he started the independent accounting firm that bears his name. Michael can provide accounting, personal and corporate tax, business and general financial consulting services. He also specializes in estate and trust administration, wealth management and related tax issues.
Janie Louie obtained a B.Comm degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems at the University of British Columbia in 1987 and qualified as a CGA in 1990. She received a number of scholarships over the years from 1982 to 1989 as a result of her high academic standing. Starting on a part-time basis in 1986 and continuing to 1995, she worked in law firm accounting, and between September 1995 and 1996 she gained some further experience doing freelance accounting work in other service-oriented sectors of the economy. Moiez Ladak has 30 years (1977 – 2007) post qualification experience in industrial and commercial organizations, non-profit organizations and in the profession. In 1993 Moiez acquired fellow status in the accounting profession in Tanzania in 1993. Up to 2007, Moiez owned an independent practice in Tanzania with assignments in auditing, taxation, maintaining computerized accounting records, and general advice on running companies
Rimma Shapiro joined Michael Barkusky CGA in late 2001. She studied at the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine (in the former Soviet Union) from 1979 to 1984. Between 1984 and 1996 she worked at the Research Institute for Building Construction in Donetsk, Ukraine. Rimma completed the Accounting Certificate Program at Vancouver Community College in 2000, obtaining a high Grade Point Average, and currently has 3rd level standing in the CGA program.
